At first I was keeping a scorecard of how many um, little borrows the author used from the vast cornucopia of SciFi. Guardians of the Galaxy was clearly the lead horse. Yet how surprised was I, at the end to find that the author believed his muse was coming from Firefly. How rookie of me but I did not see that one coming. Ok. At 80+ hours maybe listened at 1.5 speed it seemed like a long book. Some of the missions were interesting. Some were fun and zany. The final Restaurant/bar/family/band/dogfight story was a torture to get through. The slaughter of so many opponents just because they were on the other side only doing a job, startled me at first but then it became normal as today’s news. The use of Magic was well, fun and provided a unique perspective to explain things that only Einstein understands. Characters hit their peak development in the first hour and stayed constant. Which is good if you like them otherwise it will be a long long listen. They were good enough to keep me coming back. Perhaps this is just a good poor mans Galaxy. I Don’t know if I have enough lifespan to listen to more of these. But it was light fluffy fun. Oh and the Narration was quite well done. Never mixed up the voices and they were appropriate to the characters Well done!
