There really isn’t much to complain about the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. It’s not high art by any means, but it’s fun and biting social commentary mixed with exciting action. The formula has stayed relatively rigid so far, but the premise seems to enable some flexibility for the next leg of the story. Perhaps Dinniman is ready to move on to a different dynamic just as the old one was starting to get stale for me. Either way, I have confidence in the thought he’s put into each book and the next one will be an easy buy when it comes around.
