So, I’ve been kinda meh on this series as a lot of the stuff happening seems very fabricated rather than believable.
However, this third book in the series just frustrated me. Every character always chooses the worst options available to them;
Can something be cleared up by simply explaining yourself in 10 words or less? Yeah, lets not say anything, lets just stare and let the other party assume the worst.
Can a situation be avoided by simply not doing something? Yeah, lets do it!
Its like the author has no idea on how to drive the plot forward, so he makes his characters incredibly stupid only in situations where it can create strife. But then again, if the characters were consistently smart, most of the books plot would unravel and the heroes would win half way through the second book.
Its so incredibly frustrating to listen to the main character just stand there going “Uhh…” as something happens that would incriminate them as being evil, when they could simply open their mouthes and say “.. Yeah, no, it werent us, think over the situations and you’ll see how implausible it is”.
The voice actors do a good job, but frankly, this author havent really shown himself to be an amazing writer, dont get me wrong. Hes better than most, at least hes not throwing harems at the main character to keep (some) people interested.
But, if you’re looking for someone that can write intelligent characters, then you’re better off looking somewhere else.
At this point in time I have about 4 hours left of the book and I might just stop there.. Its getting frustrating that the main characters continues to make the worst choices just to drive the plot forward.
