TLDR: Characters are annoyingly stupid. Lame political stuff. I finished the first book but I don’t intend to listen anymore. Sad I wasted my credit on this one. Go read The Stand. j
I wanted to like it. Thought the story seemed interesting. But all of the characters just felt so frustratingly stupid and incompetent all the time. They also went on a lot of political tangents as others have mentioned which I don’t hate so much I find it boring and uninteresting.
While the characters are all different they all seem to be sharing one braincell and have a child like naivete. Like literally the only character that seems to understand the concept of stranger danger in a literal apocalypse is Gracia. Also you’re telling me these peppers that live presumably in the south, own guns but literally not one of them has a holster?
I can’t keep listening to this because I keep pausing it to yell at the characters for always making the worst decisions and not having a lick of common sense. Please author have some faith in humanity. We might be dumb but this is taking it too far. Even if people are this dumb I’d rather not read from the perspectives of such people.
