I see it all too often, a magnificent start to a book series only to see the series go downhill and never recover. From reading future reviews, it doesn’t look like the book series recovers. I don’t know that I will continue.

So much potential. The author didn’t understand what worked. His focus on Arthur and his story worked. However, he insists on expending to different POVs and different characters. Oh, it’s sad, so sad.

This book focuses on the training , there is nothing wrong with that, but there is no point or direction to the training. Also, the author thought somehow that Arthur telling his parent that he is king Grey would create drama. So unnecessary! Disappointed.

Also the whole thing with the steam engine was so
Stupid. The author made it seem that Arthur had an ulterior motive in giving the inventor the plans. But the moment that ship sailed , I was like, this thing is gonna fall in the hand of their enemies.

Also Arthur fighting for his love ones and family is a strong enough conviction and now he has to fight for “righting his wrongs”, so unnecessary!

Well, it’s his story but goodness it had so much potential. I always wondered why I never heard of the series when i first started reading, like cradle, it’s because it just keeps going downhill.
