This story is underpinned by at least two flawed premises. First, that a majority of career bureaucrats are fed-up with government corruption. The reality is that these swamp dwellers are the chief enablers of corruption. Second is the idea that some chaotic event could distract the press which would allow politicians to get away with corruption. The truth is that no distraction is necessary since the press have become active and willing partners of corrupt politicians. These premises would have been plausible 30 or 40 years ago, but not today. I’m baffled by this, because I believe that Franklin Horton is well aware of these realities.
