I understand that the MC is young and inexperienced. But holy god does that trope get beaten to death in this first book. It gets to the point where the book ends up being a long exposition on how naive the MC is.
The first book is bad, full stop. The writing and narration are fine. But the story progression is a waste of 11+ hrs. I’m going to try the second book because it was so well received, but this first book is absolutely awful.
