What I expected to be wrapped up in the 1st chapter (securing the troops and a relationship with the city) was practically the whole book. For some reason we spend a whole book on 5 days of nonsense and political infighting for what is basically a side quest. With this pacing there is either going to be a boatload of books or the real story is going to get very rushed at some point.

Anyway, writing is fine but the story went nowhere. Hopefully the next book pushes the story along.
