Book 3 was fine, not great, but book 4 was very disappointing. It was deus ex continuously, with wildly varying power scales. The first two books were building up a consistent magic system, book 3 ramps that up in semi weird ways, then book 4 just breaks it and it doesn’t mean anything any more. If it had just gone more slowly, give us at least a couple books of school, friendships, and building magical power, it would have been amazing. But it just jumps all over the place and suddenly only god scale powers matter and there are no longer any rules. Oh well.
