LJ Evans does it again! My Life As a Pop Album picks up where My Life As a Country Album ended. This is Mia’s story. Mia’s brother Jake , who was a severe diabetic, died after she donated one of her kidneys to him in an effort to save his life. Her donated kidney failed, Jake died and she’s ridden with guilt and considers herself a failure for not being able to save him. Mia’s parents are auctioning off Jakes beloved Camaro for charity and have a famous band coming in to play at the auction. The lead singer of the band is Derek Waters. Mia is in charge of getting him to the venue and although she’s not thrilled with any of this, she does what’s asked because she’s good girl Mia, and always does the right thing. Derek flirts, Mia deflects and tries to ignore him.
Derek ends up winning the bid for Jakes car, much to Mia’s dismay. Derek manages to convince Mia to go spelunking with he and his band. Mia finds that she’s liking Derek more and she likes his band mates too.
Derek surprises her and asks her to help him drive Jakes car to California while making stops for scheduled concerts along the way. He also promises there will be more caving. Mia says no, but surprisingly, her Dad convinces her to go. She reluctantly agrees. This is so out of her comfort zone. How will she manage day after day in such close quarters with Derek? I loved this book! My heart hurts for Mia. She carries so much guilt over Jake, that’s she’s convinced she doesn’t deserve happiness in her life. Do not miss this book! And while your at it, make sure you pick up the first book , My Life As A Country Album.
