This book was so frustrating. The concept was so good but the execution fell flat. Alice is the weakest character I have read in a long time. She’s such a ungrateful brat. Really about lost it when this ridiculous character suggested her husband defer a promotion on the premise that a book she hasn’t even started will get an advance worth more than his salary. This kind of magical thinking is peppered throughout the book. And then after doing everything she could to not get pregnant and complains the whole book about how she’s not ready she turns on her heel and becomes real excited with the idea because she can use the pregnancy to force her husband to turn down his promotion. I feel so bad for the husband he’s vilified the entire time and for what…working hard to provide for his family, and wanting kids and a wife who loves him? I have to assume the author is single if this is how she thinks marriages work.
