This is the first in the series, The Leafy Hollow Mysteries, and the first I have read/listened by Rickie Blair. It’s a fast-paced mystery with quirky characters. The story was interesting and had plenty of suspects other than Verity. I rate this 4.5 therefore, I must round up.

I liked how Verity grows through the story. She is not as anxious by the end of the book and has made plenty of friends.

Verity is a shut-in in the Vancouver area. She hasn’t gotten over the death of her mother, five years ago and her husband, two years ago. Her aunt lives in Leafy Hollow, two thousand miles east, in a small village, Leafy Hollow, Canada.

Verity gets a call that her aunt is presumably dead. Verity is the closest relative. The aunt’s client, Yvonne Scalding, accosts her the first few minutes after her arrival at her aunt’s home. Yvonne expects Verity to cut her lawn and trim her wisteria bush right away. Yvonne was absolutely obnoxious and I did not feel bad when she died.

Greed, deception and some laughs along the way will keep you guessing.

Looking forward to the next installment.
