The book focuses around Hector Savage a character with an interesting back story, one I wouldn’t mind hearing more about for once as it’s far from boring, however his personality wasn’t very relatable to me. The main characters outlook on the game is about using and abusing game mechanics to get the edge and he does so time after time. The pacing of the book felt off for me so it took me until about a 3rd of the way in to really get a feel for it then I breezed through the rest, the first third wasn’t bad it was just a lot happening very quickly setting what feels like an unusual pace. The world being built is an interesting take on the “Game of Gods” genre even fitting in rarely mentioned Gods and their interests. The secondary characters show some promise but aren’t very filled out in this book. The final encounter of the book is very entertaining if predictable and the questions trying to define good from evil in a non black and white take are also interesting. Once again the narration from Sound Booth Theater was on point. If you’re looking for a fast paced event after event adventure give this one a shot.
