I’ve long been fascinated by forensic scientists and their roles in helping to solve crimes/mysteries, and this book satisfies that interest incredibly well with it’s detail of the evolution of forensics and the many fields of science it pulls from. What I didn’t expect, but what made the book so much more compelling, is that this book also explores the hearts of the scientists who work on these emotionally brutal cases. They aren’t just robots going through facts, they identify and care about the people they are looking for/finding. It truly makes you appreciate the folks who go into the dark places none of us want to imagine, to help victims and their families find justice, but also to explore their respective sciences and see where each field can lead them.
