I rarely write a full review when I’m stingy with stars because it feels too harsh. I also rarely give very poor reviews because in most cases, I can tolerate a book with poor writing or narration if the storyline is somewhat compelling. In this case, however, neither is true. And I feel pretty strongly about letting other readers know not to waste the money.
I gave two stars overall because the author occasionally offered insightful tips on survival embedded within the flaccid, implausible, and disorganized storyline(s). But that’s all I got from this. It’s filled with surface-level characters and highly unlikely scenarios. The narration also was so bad—but maybe I’m just biased because I was raised in the south so a bad fake southern accent is like nails on a chalkboard to me. And the writing.. oh gosh. I feel like it’s rare for writing to be so bad that impacts the “readability” of an audiobook, but again, this masterpiece pulls it off.
Like I said, I hate being so harsh, but please, save yourself the time and money. This book is definitely not worth either.
