I loved this book. I love the concept the world the story. I like that there’s two main characters rather than one. That’s just something I enjoy in a story. I like that they aren’t just two dorky white guys too. Jason is, but Henry’s a grumpy veteran which is a nice change of pace and sets a good contrast between the protagonists. The fact that Jason is a nerd but also not the sole protagonist means he can have his moments but also be made fun of for being a dork. It’s just a really good setup I think.
The only possible complaint I have for this book is how despite all their creative and innovative accomplishments people keep calling Jason and Henry stupid. Often because they don’t automatically know the cultures of every alien species from day one. This is actually called out by Henry at some point. Im glad he doesn’t apologize for not knowing. Honestly the others could take their own advice and try to understand earth culture a little better.
I also think it’s silly that Jason, the man who wanted to call their company “Pokemonsters”, hates the name of the BattleWagon.
All in all good fucking book. Hopefully people will stop shitting on our two heroes in the next one. Either way I’m definitely finishing this series.
