I listen to a lot of narration by R.C. Bray and find that I may have been spoiled by it. Few narrators come close to his level of performance. This is the first book I have listened to that was narrated by Jeff Hays and he completely knocks it out of the park for me. A truly phenomenal performance. A lot of narrators struggle when it comes to voicing sexes that aren’t theirs without sounding creepy in some way. Jeff handles this with no issue and brings each character, many female, to life with their own tones and nuances. His performance absolutely enhances the story and makes it much more enjoyable. The story itself is interesting in its own way, tickling several of my interests. From the superhero element to the rpg aspects that show up, I had many reasons for liking this story. Many books have their slow points where things can drag for a bit, I didn’t find any of those in here. The author does a good job of establishing the universe and introducing the main character. Once that is done it the story really takes off and never slows down.
