A rather generic fantasy novel starring an lgbt pairing. The narration seemed poor and a bit jarring at first but as I got further in, the voices grew on me. The middle and meat of the book was quite enjoyable even if it did nothing special, but by the end completely falls apart. It went from still building up an antagonist to finishing the novel in the last 30 minutes. The book just decided to abandon the attempts at building a lore and decides to just throw you into a final event. The writing itself also takes a bit of a nosedive in quality and feels like it was finished by a rushed 14 year old rather than a published author. It’s a shame, because I really started to get in to it and then all of that was shattered in the last 30 minutes of narration. Unfortunately I could not recommend this book, and I’m usually one who can just sit and enjoy an average 3 star book and not need literary brilliance.
