The story provided a lot of insight into the many lives touched, amended and often ruined by the titular monster. Set primarily in Colorado, it gives the author ample opportunity for descriptions of landscape and nature that relieve some of the grimness of the story. It’s also a fairly grueling read, offering a window into the many law enforcement officers who worked for years to bring this man to justice. In fairness, it has to be said that the legal system failed the multiple victims horribly.
