It took a couple of chapters to hook me, but it did! This was a vampire story with enough new ideas to feel fresh, but yet it still had all of the things that I love about them. Mild – moderate spoilers below * * * I was really pleased that so much emphasis was placed on “choice” throughout the book, and loved how it was woven in with the clash of cultures, ancient vs modern, in such a real-life way. The combo made the book exceptional!
