I stumbled upon this series recently and have thoroughly enjoyed the first two novels in the series. I’ll definitely continue with the series as the tone and snark remind me of Jim Butcher, which is the highest of compliments. I will, however, be switching to the printed version and will not purchase another audio book as the narrator is truly awful. While he has an excellent voice, he has absolutely no ability to imitate accents. Worse, tho he does try to have different “voices” for the characters, there’s little to no difference between many of them. It’s very frustrating and really ruins the book as he pulls you out the narrative. I’m sure he’s a perfectly nice person, but he doesn’t belong in this profession. Mr. Phipps, I highly recommend you do everything in your power to have your future books read by truly talented voice actors like Tim Gerard Reynolds, Oliver Wyman or Nick Podehl. You’re an excellent author and your works deserve better representation. I still gave the overall story a 4 star review despite by one star review of the performance as it’s brutally unfair to penalize the author for something over which he likely has no control. Overall, I highly recommend the series to those who enjoy Urban Fantasy or Super based fantasy works.
