I read the first few books of this series on my kindle. Decided to start again with audible since I drive a lot for work now. I have to say that if I didn’t already like the story, I would have returned the book and moved on. Not because of the story but because of the narrator.
I have never heard a more droning, inconsistent, unimaginative narrator in my life. The overall narration – intonation, emphasis, and style is a jumbled mess. The portrayal of the female characters is downright embarrassing. Breathy, sultry, soft spoken – that’s the formula for every female character. He seems to forget which character he’s reading and instead of redoing the dialog, he tried to transition in the middle of the line.
I can’t believe this narration hasn’t been replaced. I can’t imagine how many sales not only this book has lost, but the whole series. The narration does this excellent story a complete disservice. It’s a real shame. I’m glad they changed for the rest of the books but they should really redo this one too.
