Freya Barker pens another amazing novel set in her “High Mountain Trackers” series, a romantic suspense that captivates your attention from start to end. I am loving this series and the complexity of the characters, who are realistic and relatable. The world building is fantastic too. This fourth book is Bo Rivera and Lucy Lenoir’s story, she runs Hart’s Horse Rescue and he is former military and one of High Mountain Trackers team members. Bo, who opted to live in town to stay closer to his mom to check in on her. He is interested in Lucy, visits her at her ranch, but thinks she is too young for him. When he finds out she is older than he thought, he is all smiles, yeah the grumpy man can smile. Lucy has not had the easiest of lives and she does not trust easily, so she keeps to herself and tends to her rescued animals. When Bo works his way into her life, she brings down the walls that she built around her heart. She only shared a fraction of her past with Bo, who has his own past demons, but the little she shared with him he figures more out and wants to keep her protected, but could only do that if she trusts and lets him. When some odd things happen around her ranch, she thinks nothing of it, but when she sees someone from her past, she puts two and two together. It was gut wrenching to learn what she went thru in her past, but she is a survivor and when her past comes back to get her, she will not let it get her There is never a dull moment in this book, it is a cleverly plotted story with plenty of drama, angst, mystery, romantic suspense, heartfelt emotions and a slow burn romance. Freya Barker, thank you for another fantastic story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fantastic narration, Freya Barker cast the perfect narrators to bring her character and story to life. Ada Sinclair and Jamal Roque did a great job portraying these characters and did so with a complete understanding of who they were, giving each a voice that was fitting and was believable in every role they played. Roque is a new to me narrator, it took me a minute to get used to his narration style, but once I did, I enjoyed it and thought it was a perfect fit for Bo’s character. Ada Sinclair was as fabulous as always, she grasped every side of Lucy’s personality, her insecurities, as well as her strength and determination. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into their performance. These entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to, thank you for this wonderful listen.
