This is my first time reading/listening to any of Andrew Gordon’s work. Even with the number of times I have looked for high fantasy LGBTQ I’ve never come across him. I am very glad to have rectified the situation now. Thankfully I am a HUGE fan of Joel Leslie which is how I found this book.
The story is engaging and the world is well built. I do feel that the back story could have been better discribed inside the story. The small section in the blurb about the war between the gods really isn’t much to go on when they are such a critical part of the story. As this is a series however, hopefully this will be rectified in future books.
I really wish they would allow half ratings as the story really deserves a 4.5 imo. The reason I took off that bit was the pacing of the story. The beginning and end are full of action but the middle drags a little.
Even so I think it is an excellent book narrated by an awesome performer. If you enjoy high fantasy then this is a must for your collection.
