Serenity Washington has been through hell. She watched her twin die by the hands of a serial killer. She escaped and helped put their tormentor in prison. After eight years she’s back home in Verona Bay with her daughter. She wants peace but evil is stalking her and her friends. This story scared me. I felt Serenity’s fear when she received the momentos from her past ordeal. After all she endured I wanted her to be safe from the monster who hated her. I was glad Lucas Jordan was there to protect Serenity and her daughter. He’s a former Marine and a strong person. I enjoyed the romantic tension between them. I hoped they could have a future together. The small town made the perfect setting. It’s where evil hides in plain sight. I hope that Sheriff Lincoln Jordan gets his own story. I want to know more about him. Katie Reus has written a powerful story filled with strong characters and interesting twists. I find that audiobooks add emotional depth to the story. The narration by Heather Costa and Jeffrey Kafer is excellent. I was pulled into this story. I wanted closure. And a HEA.
