Who knew ants could be so much fun. The attention to detail about mandibles and minutae of ant physiology really help to make an immersive litrRpg about an ant.
The levels and mutations come in at a steady and satisfying drip, this is no “1 tier up per book series’, rather there are over a dozen ability mutations that manage to feel meaningful and cohesive, without being overpowered.
The combat sequences are long enough to explore the new powers and create tension, without dragging on or becoming hard to follow.
The narration from SBT is incredible, as always. I’m hoping future members of the series will give us some sound effects for gravity and lightning powers.
In the next book, I’d really like our favorite ant to develop a personal mid/long-range goal to work towards beyond “meet the former earth dweller”. The series really shines when Anthony is questing to find, feed, and defend his family. However, in some of the later chapters (80-100) I struggled to remain as engaged compared to the earlier and final chapters.
