The character and storyline development are very detailed and enjoyable to the reader/listener. The first half of the book is clear that the author really wanted the listener to be a part of the story. The second half or so, the story felt rushed. I felt the whole journey to CO should’ve doubled the length of the book with realistic encounters of a world of chaos. It could’ve been great, but unfortunately I was left disappointed and likely won’t be purchasing the sequel.

It’s common practice for modern apocalyptic fiction authors to start with a great story, build up the characters, then rush through to get the sequel or trilogy out in 6 months. This unfortunately can make a potentially amazing novel turn into average at best.

Kevin Pierce was an excellent choice as a narrator! I’ve enjoyed his work for a few years now and view him as “The Voice of the Apocalypse”.
