My first introduction to Antonio Terzini and, truthfully, I decided to give it a roll of the dice mainly on the strength of Jeff Hays narration skills. I’m glad I did.

It’s a good size novel and, normally, I’m either glad when it’s finished due to too much filler material or pleased when finished due being satisfied with the entirety. However, very rarely after such a long novel am I upset due to it but wanting more, sleep-deprivation damned. This book feel squarely in the rare latter category.

There’s lots of court intrigue along with the many betrayers that accompany it, interesting character arcs, unexpected character losses and an odd and mysterious protagonist.

Pick this up, you won’t be disappointed.
