This series is one of my favorites and I eagerly await the next volume. Hugo Huesca does so much in these books, a large and well built world, flushed out and suitably complex characters, and both mini story lines to make each book satisfying and an overarching story to leave you wanting more of the series. The blurred lines of good and evil in this series gives it a more realistic feel. There’s evil characters doing evil, evil characters doing good, good characters doing good, and good characters doing evil. And then there’s “evil” folks behaving in an over-the-top parody of evil, because they think it what they should do to fit in. Also, this series has resisted becoming a harem story. Nothing against harem stories, but variety is nice. 🙂

Narration is by Jeff Hays and the Soundbooth Theater gang. Everything I have ever heard by them has been fantastically done and they do not disappoint here. They are the leading edge in not just narration, but audiobook performance.

When the next book comes out, my Audible point will be ready.
