I originally listened to these as individual audiobooks. I absolutely loved relistening to them in this boxed set. It was perfection since you could go from book to book without pause.

King of Corium

This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by J.L. Beck and C. Hallman. It is DARK. Possibly the darkest I’ve read/listened to so far. My heart broke for Aspen. I cried for her. I cannot get over what I’ve just heard. Quinton has a L-O-N-G way to go to earn my trust? Respect? Heart? Can I get over this beginning to get there? He did waver about how he and the others treated Aspen, somewhat. But let’s face it. He raped Aspen. Because this is fantasy, I’ll put it in a little box and set it aside for now. The rest of the storyline has me intrigued. I’m dying for answers. And that cliffhanger!!! It was brutal. The wait for the next audiobooks is painful. Trying to decide if I want to go read them first!

I want to add that at first, I almost turned the audiobook off thinking I was about to listen to a copycat story. I was grumbling in my head that I couldn’t believe how close this was to another series I’ve read. But it’s NOT. Not really. It became all it’s own shorty after it started. Glad I stuck with it.

Drop Dead Queen

I am totally invested in this series by C. Hallman and JL Beck. Completely riveted. It is painful to listen to the heartbreaking storyline. IT IS DARK. IT IS FULL OF TRIGGERS. The authors warned us. Take heed. If you thought the first book was too much…. It took all I had not to be physically sick. My heart and stomach twisted into painful knots! But still, I couldn’t pause the audiobook.

We learn more about Quinton, but he still has quite the way to go to make up for the beginning. I adore Aspen. She is so strong. Yes, stubborn as well. But she has my respect. I cannot get over that cliffhanger. I really need the ending! I need to see heads roll!!!

Broken Kingdom

This is the first series that I’ve read/listened to by C. Hallman and JL Beck. I have picked up more from them as I have loved their work! They are wonderful authors individually and as a team. I remember being unsure of this series after the first book. The storyline reminded me of another author but I was so wrong. I’m in love with this world they have created. This is a hard listen. I cried. My anxiety was sky high. So many emotions. The conclusion had me sitting on the edge of my seat! I loved the characters. I want more!

Zara Eden and Connor Brown are excellent narrators. Their emotional performance, along with the story itself, kept me riveted. Easy to listen to and captivating voices. It was perfection.
