I had already read quite a lot on this topic, but having all in one place very well organised has real value.
it’s a harsh book. puts into the open stuff you know goes on on the back of your mind but would not admit to.
i think it should be remembered that our hidden motives are just part of our motives. they are not the full story. when we do charity, we do it for doing good and for some hidden selfish motives, yes. but the “in the open motive” is there too. i think the authors stress this point, but it must be kept into account while listening. otherwise, one risks to come out thinking that humanity is a bunch of selfish cinical uncaring lot which is not true and not the intention of the author.
not sure if it is better to k ow or ignore this stuff. handle with care.
