Ripley is smart and well prepared, but Romeo helps her through the worst. Mostly because, although she is prepared she’s not completely ready to face the apocalypse. Her grandmother, although not a prepper, recognizes the need for crap loads of chicken being canned but at the same time….she helps others. I know this isn’t usually a thing preppers want to do, help others; but I believe Grandma knows best.
