What an epic conclusion to this unique zombie story! Since this genre has become so popular, it is often hard to find books that have that little something special and unique. Brian Parker has definitely done that with this series.

After one zombie war, the United States is again facing decimation from the zombie hordes. Everyone thought that the zombies had been contained behind a wall surrounding Washington, DC. Then, a nuclear attack was supposed to have taken care of them. However, soon zombies start appearing in Philadelphia and other areas. Some have even made it to the Gulf of Mexico by water. Is there anything that can stop them?

This book follows several paths and alternate viewpoints of the fight against the zombies. A National Guard unit from New York is at the forefront of the fight and the story follows one of the leaders as they try to destroy the horde. Another group of survivors has been recruited to fight and the book details two as they fight to reach the man’s daughter.

Then, we have retired CIA Operative Asher Hawke, AKA the Kestrel, as he attempts to find and kill the Master of the Zombies and revenge the deaths of those he loved.

There is plenty of zombie killing action, the obligatory villains (with graphic torture descriptions) and more as these characters try to save the world as they know it. I shed a few tears along the way as beloved characters met their untimely deaths.

The narrator, Andrew Wehrlen, did a great job and added a lot to my enjoyment of this book and the whole series. I was given the chance to listen to the audiobook version of this book by the author/publisher/narrator and chose to review it.
