Enjoyed the series. Listened to the box set, then picked up Cole’s Saga to finish out the character. Found the story line likeable because this is an “ordinary Joe” character. Most books of this type feature former military/spec-op type primary characters. That said, there was a lot of room for building a character that didn’t have the extraordinary good fortune of a gift of huge property/bugout location and fiscal resources to acquire expensive survival tools (priced a late 60s Bronco lately?). I would much rather have seen “ordinary Joe” have to figure stuff out with the limited resources that his vocation/lifestyle left him like everyone else. Found the weapons to be somewhat inconsistent (Springfield does not make the M&P 15) so could have paid a bit more attention there and fuel, even in underground tanks, is only going to be useful for 1-3 years tops. Would love to have seen some work with making alcohol fuel and/or bio-diesel. Did love Grandma’s letters. Her Character was a really great addition to the storyline.

Didn’t care for the ‘always looking to instantly fall in love’ part of the story though the rationale provided helped temper that with a dose of reality. The dialogue was highly improbable as people, being emotional creatures, are rarely that thoughtful and introspective in their conversation.

Overall, I really enjoyed the series, listened to 6 books. Felt like a great opportunity to teach prepping from an every-man perspective was missed. Would still listen to more from this author as I did very much enjoy the series.
