The Sword of Light trilogy creates and takes you through a world with its own spin on magic. It does follow the common coming of age/coming into power scheme, but it does so very well. There’s plenty of opportunity to get attached to Eric and other major characters, and to appreciate the world he is in. The story is paced well with world building. It doesn’t fall into the trap of some epics like LoTR (no rage please), which gets so caught up in world building that the story grinds to a halt for chapters at a time. Instead, this series brings you into the world while things continue to happen. Definitely recommended if you enjoy high fantasy.
