This is the epitome of an Enemies to Lovers trope, only taken to a whole new extreme with the level of brattiness the main female character Brooke exudes just to seemingly save face. JJ’s surliness does not take a back seat in this either. Both are so made for each other it’s a wonder they didn’t get there again sooner.
The story brought smiles to my face albeit watery at times. the banter and snark between best friends Annette and Brooke balance out the steam and headbutting done in out out of the sheets with Brooke and JJ.
Jeffrey Kafer was a great fit as he has a style of narration that works best with no nonsense characters. Virginia Rose brought out the essence of Brooke’s character, giving the perfect imbalance of hard and soft at the right times for the story.
