I thought that the narrators were great. They had the perfect voices to reflect the characters and were smooth and easy to listen to. They also did a great job representing the different characters, both male and female.
In terms of the story, this is an enemies to lovers story in a high school setting. I was drawn in by the description and probably should have expected it to be as angst filled as it was but I was surprised. Wow, the football players were pretty much put in the worst light possible. Jason is so mean to Hailee and it’s horrifying- even after we learned the reason why he was so mean, I didn’t see that there was any possible excuse for how poorly he treated her. And in the beginning, Cameron is also extremely frustrating, given the fact that he was spinelessly following Jason’s horrible behavior. I prefer characters that have heart which, I was starting to doubt about any of the football players in this book. Luckily, Cameron did redeem himself towards the middle/end and I did feel bad for him given his home situation. The supporting cast was interesting although Felicity sometime felt a bit too one dimensional. But it’ll be interesting to see how her story turns out.
I have to say that I never once lost interest in the book- Partly, I thought the narrators did a great job reflecting the different voices and emotions. Partly, because I was curious how the book would progress- what would happen? How would they resolve the (excessive) turmoil? I thought this story line was resolved well and the author set it up really well for the next book in the series.
I received the book from Audiobook Obsession and this is my honest review.
