“…Your happiness … IS my happiness…”
This is a sweet, angsty read that definitely made a workday more interesting for me—it hits lots of tropes and packs a lot of other fun qualities:
🌟 Cheating.
⚽ Intense parent w/ unreasonable expectations. (MMC’s)
🌟 ^ There’s an older sibling like this as well. (FMC’s)
⚽ Forbidden (sister’s ex / ex’s sister).
—Also: coach / player.
🌟 V!rgIn heroine.
⚽ Sports romance.
🌟 Loads of angst.
⚽ Lots of talk during steamy scenes.
🌟 Academy setting.
⚽ Unrequited love (or is it?).
🌟 An evil faculty member.
The FMC is cute, but juvenile—not just because she’s a teenager but, at times, she feels younger than that, more like single-digits aged. I liked her, but struggled to believe she was 17/18 years old at times. Though … as it went on, I realized she could also be wise beyond her years and insightful … so it felt like she grew—well done.
The MMC is likable, driven, determined, sometimes-alpha (like during steamy scenes), a casual biker and a sports star. A fun combination of course and he’s just broken enough. We get to see him grow as well.
Overall: 4 stars.
Would read more of this author’s work.
