We start out with a typical premise; an apocalyptic event in RL has people uploading their conscience to a new VRMMORPG. The MC is a decent guy IRL who goes into the upload process knowing he’s going to stay. He becomes fully vested in the game world and experiences the common bewilderment and/or awe in the reality of the game world and the NPCs within it. His stand on the politics of the land was uncertain as well. The game mechanics are present in “sheets” containing skills and stats, although it’s a bit weak in that area. Classes are not standard. Magic is handled differently. Mana; the accumulation, and its use are quite different, having a more complex process. The characters are well-balanced and likable. The dragon rider plotline is exciting and developing quite nicely. I love dragon adventures and haven’t enjoyed a good one in some time. The audio performance by Soundbooth Studio is excellent, making the experience truly enjoyable. I’m hooked on the intriguing story, having already picked up the next volume.
