Dr. Watson is not an idiot!!!!

I felt that, in an attempt to have more explanations from Holmes, the author made Dr. Watson seem completely idiotic and obtuse. I believe Dr. Watson was made to seem basically stupid so that Holmes could explain everything so Watson would understand, when any person Who had read a Sherlock Holmes novel would understand what was going on and the book claims that this is Dr. Watson in years in years. So he should be able to understand what’s going on. Such as when his wallet and gun were stolen by the prostitutes at mother Mary’s House of ill repute. I understood why they took his items. Dr. Watson is not an idiot neither am I and I kind of felt like the author thought I was.
