I put this off for so long because I saw reviews of people saying it was stupid or tried too hard. And I’m so mad I did. This series is a perfect balance of sci-fi, fantasy and gamelit. If you like claptrap in Borderlands, you will love this series. I saw a clip of Jeff reading as Donut and I was put off due to the lack of context. I was in a hardcore sci-fi binge but liked the humor is stuff like Dennis E Taylor and Craig Alanson (Matt, please make the Skippy/donut crossover happen), and I thought it seemed a bit too goofy and fantasy game like. Then I just jumped in and boy am I glad I did. This series has become one of, if not my most enjoyed series. I even subbed to Matt’s Patreon because I HAD to know what happened after the cliffhanger at the end of this book. And I don’t mean that as a negative, Matt just built an amazing amount of anticipation for the next floor which has been a huge.plot point across all the books so far. Start with the first and give it a shot, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Then check out Kaiju, battlefield surgeon of you want something darker but still in the same…. vein (no pun intended…)
