Beautifully written story about survival and love in the midst of abuse. When two people are the only source of love and stability in their lives helping one to survive and the other to give what is needed, distortions happen. Then distortions become something else. This story challenges societal ideas of right and wrong, but also gives a platform for opening up rigidity and judgements.
I would have liked the narration to change speed for different voices—everyone had the same slow drawl—which took away from the distinct characters for me.
Overall a compelling, sad, and very interesting story. I would have paid for it happily, but am impressed Audible included it with membership.
