I wish I could give this a better review. The performance is excellent and the writing is top tier. I listened to so much of this hoping it wouldn’t go where I was afraid it would. It’s a compelling story, and the characters are well written. I was hoping that Wavey would have a father figure. She deserves someone who cares for her as a child should be–loved unconditionally and protected. Pedophilia is not what I was looking for at all. I understand that stuff like this happens, and it’s okay to write about, but an actual sex scene between a child and a grown man? Absolutely not. Who cares if she thought she “wanted” it. She’s a child so no. Just NO. All the people praising the romanticism of their relationship is upsetting. I’m so glad I didn’t waste a credit on this book, because I refuse to finish it.
