I’ve been a big fan of the author and especially the narrator for this genre of audiobooks. This one (The Path Of Water) was terribly disappointing. The first in the series was a little better but still below par as the protagonist is a stoner. The amount of navel-gazing and incohesive thoughts makes me think that the author must have first-hand experience; otherwise, it was not a bad story but in no way compares to his other series.

The worst part of this story, by far, is the antagonist is an obvious real-life famous personality whom everyone is familiar with. His persona is described in detail to leave no doubt, even down to his appearance. Most disappointing of all, the narrator’s impression of his voice is spot-on, erasing any doubt. They turn him into a vile, disgusting person.

Why would they (the author and narrator) do this? As a cheap virtue signal? Are these their true feelings about the man or has the author become too lazy to create original characters? Why would the narrator agree to go along with this? It’s hard to separate the artist from the art when you have no respect for the artist, and regardless of their reasons, I have definitely lost respect for both the author and narrator after this book.

I obviously won’t be purchasing the next in this series.
