Women dying so two of the heroes did not have to have any kind of meaningful relationship. To be a man means to take care of women, children, old folk, to work hard, make good choices, be loyal to his wife and children. Not much of that here. Mostly absurd, childish situations with men behaving badly. This book is like watching a man walk into a bar and brag I can whip any man in here, with various results. Who would want to associate with such a braggart? Ditto, the characters in the book, not ones I want to associate with further. I was so glad this was a series, but not I am definitely not getting the next in the sequence. This could have been done so well. Also stupid references to Mother Earth as in Mother Earth made me do it or it was Mother Earth’s will. Stuff about the Mormon church. I am not Mormon, but I am not sure if the negative way they are portrayed is true. Doubt it.
One hero did rescue his wife and 2 sons, but he seemed an unpleasant person too that I could not admire.
