There is a lot of foul language in this series. I don’t swear and in most situations I find it offensive. The gratuitous swearing of the dim witted is jarring and annoying but it’s done well in these books and not without reason. Dinniman has my respect for using it to achieve realism and humor and not simply for shock value.

That aside, there have been few books so creative and captivating. Post apocalyptic stories are usually too harrowing to keep my interest but the author includes humor and hope liberally throughout.

The characters are also masterfully done. As a reader I felt an almost immediate connection and as the stories progressed their failures became that much more meaningful and their successes more enjoyable.

Great book. Can’t wait for the series to be complete.
