I think I picked up Unsouled in a 2-for-1 sale a long while back. Little did I know how many times I would end up listening, and re-listening to the entire Cradle series.
Unsouled focuses on a young protagonist, Lindon, who is hilariously underpowered in a world filled with sacred artists where the ability to use magic is commonplace. His lack of ability is a a subject of scorn and derision to all, even among his own clan and family. If he wants to learn to use the sacred arts, he must walk his own path, leaving everyone he knows behind, and traveling far beyond the world he knows. Does he have the determination to grow his fledgling powers? The intelligence to survive in an uncaring world? The fearlessness to face enemies far beyond his level of advancement?
Unsouled is just the beginning, the foundation, of the rest of the Cradle series. As you continue to read through the rest of the books, the excitement and pacing only accelerate in the best possible way. Also, Travis Baldree does a phenomenal job, as always, to keep the characters and real in the narration.
Give it a go, and I hope you enjoy this world Will Wight has created as much as I do.
