I was so excited when K Bromberg opened her Every Day Heroes series, and this is the perfect addition! It’s a rock star romance, but with a little twist. Rather than being the super famous star looking for a break, we meet Devon. He is in a slump, and his career is in a lull. He needs some inspiration, and moves to a town that has helped a peer. Now renting a cabin next to Kay and her 12 year old daughter, he has a new look at life. Kay is not interested a relationship. Co-parenting with her best friend is enough, but Devon gets under her skin. Charming, good looking and humble, she begins to fall for their newly forming friends with benefits deal. Will these two find a happy medium? I loved these two. Devon has a depth to him we don’t always get with rock stars. He is at a point in life that lets us see his vulnerability and he isn’t afraid to show it. Kay is a tough one. I love her independent streak, and spunk. She isn’t going to fall easily. But the real star for me is the fun loving Ellie. She may be 12, but she is feisty and curious. I love her puppy and her instant ease with Devon. Other secondary characters make this a well rounded, fun listen and it was a blast to listen to.

Narrated by the talented team of Lacy Laurel and Alexander Neal, the story has an easy pace and a fantastic chemistry. Laurel brings Kat alive, with a fire to keep her feisty streak strong, and a vulnerability to let us fall in love Devon right along with her. Alexander Neal is new to me, and what a find! He is fantastic. He gets Devon, and brings all of his feelings to the surface and lets us watch him evolve. These two were really good and made for an enjoyable listen
