I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It stands out from the majority of post apocalyptic/zombie stories. There were no lengthy passages about people running from or annihilating the dead with bats and axes, or whatever… not a Walking Dead type of story.
In the beginning of the book, we get a bit of backstory about the main character Calvin before and during the initial stages of the viral infection of the world’s population. The majority of the story follows our main character from when his son is born to when he meets a Hannah, and until they reach the sanctuary town they’ve desperately been trying to get to. The synopsis of the book does not leave much out, but there is a bit of a surprise at the end.
I enjoyed this book and did get to feel for the characters. A well written story. I’d love to listen to/read another book by this author.
The narrator did an excellent job reading this book and bringing the characters to life. His female voices were well done and I loved the voice for the nice older woman they met. I’d happily listen to another book by this narrator.
There are no explicit scenes of violence, sex or swearing.
