Fist on the narration. I liked the narrators. Lines were clear and easy to hear. Characters sounded like they had emotion and the voices fit the characters. I didn’t really appreciate the switching back and forth between the two narrators at first but it grew on me as the book progressed and, at the end, I can say it worked well. Towards the end of the book the narrator switches to a final third person. I may have been ok with that if the same or even a similar voice had been used throughout the book. The story changed perspectives to this character and after having already identified the voice used previously by the other narrators it was hard to connect this new voice as the “actual” voice of the character.

Now for the story. This book had me laughing in the first chapter which is generally a good sign. Before the characters got into the meat of the story I wasn’t quite connecting with them but once the action got started and they began to show their true colors I felt like they were all great characters. There are a lot of video game references in this book mostly related to shooters and battle royals as well as general pop culture. The comedy in this book was very corny and low-brow but in a good way. This may scare some people off but for me the blunt and simple nature of it was enjoyable. Overall this was a straightforward story that was easy to get into and enjoy without having to keep track of deep plot and backstory.
